Museum of History Benicia is excited to present Callie’s Kids Camps. All of our camp sessions have plenty of opportunities for collaboration and fun. Each day is full of exploratory activities and adventure. Read our FAQ below!

What are Callie’s Kids Camps?

Callie’s Kids Camps are weekly camps available for children ages 6 through 11, and explore engaging themes such as outdoor archaeology adventures, tinkering and engineering, science, mysteries in history, and more!

Our camps provide children with an opportunity to explore engaging hands-on activities that interest them, all while teaching them about the week’s theme.

Full-day, week-long Camp Sessions are offered during mid-winter break, spring break and summer.

On-demand camp sessions can be booked on Wednesday-Friday from noon to 4pm.

What is the Counselor-in-Training program?

Our Counselor-in-Training program is an opportunity for 12-15 year olds to learn leadership skills while participating in camp activities. CIT’s will be assigned to a group of younger children, helping them with activities, leading games and modeling behavior.  They will have the opportunity to participate in all camp activities.

CIT’s are always supervised by an adult and never left alone with younger children.

CIT registration fees are $45 per session, which covers activity supplies and insurance.

The greatly reduced fees for this program are not eligible for any discounts.

How do I register for Callie’s Kids Camps?

Register and purchase camp online through this website. The link appears directly above the FAQ section.

If you are a member, please make sure you have the current discount code before registering.

After your payment is received, you will be sent a welcome packet and other necessary details about the camp you signed up for.  

What time do Callie’s Kids Camps run?

Our school break and summer camps are full-day programs running from 9:00 to 4:00.

On-demand camps run three days per week, Wednesday through Friday from noon to 4:00.

Do you offer extended care?

We do not offer extended care at this time.

Where do Callie’s Kids Camps take place?

Camp takes place at one of our 2 locations: Arsenal Galleries at 2060 Camel Rd, or Downtown Gallery at 900 East 2nd St, Benicia, CA 94510.

Currently the only camps scheduled to take place downtown are the 2 sesssions of “Delicious History” July 2024. All other sessions will be at our Arsenal Galleries.

I am a Member of Museum of History Benicia, do I get a discount?

Yes, MoHB Family-Level memberships and higher receive a 15% discount on camp sessions. 

The discount is available during checkout with a discount code.  Please do not register without the code.  Codes are sent to members by email.  If you haven’t received the current code, please email education@mohbenicia.org

Do I get a discount for multiple children or multiple sessions?

No, we do not offer discounts for multiple children or multiple sessions.

What is a typical day like?

Our camps are designed to offer a variety of developmentally appropriate activities throughout the week.

Each day of camp includes adult-led group activities, hands-on exploration of theme topics, creative & collaborative activities, free-choice, and active play.

Do you provide snacks or lunch?

We do not provide snacks or lunch. Our day includes snack and lunch breaks, so children should bring two snacks and a healthy lunch each day, along with a water bottle.

How does camp drop-off and pick-up work?

Drop-off and pick-up may be slightly different for different camp sessions. Generally, adults are asked to walk the campers from the parking lot to the drop-off location and sign them in. Whenever a new person picks up a camper, they should have their ID ready to show camp staff at sign-out.

Specific information on procedures will be provided after registration.

Campers who are sick at drop-off will be directed to stay home.

What happens if I don’t pick up my child on time from camp?

There is an additional $5 per minute late pick-up fee for all children remaining more than five minutes past their registered pick-up time.

What is your refund policy?

Cancellations for Callie’s Kids Camps are as follows:

Withdrawals made 15 days prior to a session’s start date will be refunded 80% of the registration fees.

Withdrawals within 14 days of a session’s start date will not receive a refund, but registration can be transfered to another session of camp or another child.

Museum of History Benicia reserves the right to cancel camps due to insufficient enrollment. If a camp is canceled, transfers will be offered, or refunds will be issued.

Refunds are not issued for absences.

Do you have a waitlist?

Yes. If a Callie’s Kids Camp session is full, please feel free to add your name to the online waitlist. If an opening becomes available, a Callie’s Kids Camp staff member will contact you about filling the spot.

My child’s needs are unique. How do I communicate that with the staff in advance?

Children attend camps independently without parents or guardians and should be comfortable in a group setting.

If a child requires an aide at school or they are in a self-contained special day class, we require that the family provides an aide during camp.
The registration documents include a section for you to alert us to details such as allergies, medical needs, and other matters that might affect your child’s participation in activities. The information you provide will help us to support your children safely.

If you would like to discuss your child’s needs before camp, we would be happy to set up a time to discuss how we can best support them during their time at camp.

Will Museum of History Benicia be open to the public during camp time?

The Museum of History Benicia is open to the general public, and hours are subject to change.
