What is Art Camel?

Art Camel is a wonderful collaboration between The Benicia Historical Museum and the HQ Gallery of Benicia. Come experience the beauty of history and the excitement of modern art in a unique historic venue housed within our very own Stone Hall – built in 1853. Our historic location brings together art, architecture, history, and culture in a way that celebrates the region.

Featuring an ever-changing collection of art from local and national artists. Admission is included with museum admission.

Moving Forward

HQ Gallery opens its new show “Moving Forward” May 5th through July 10th. Nineteen artists are shown in a variety of media including painting, water color, photography, mixed media, digital art, found objects, drawings and printmaking. 

Water colorist Craig Moline is the featured artist for May. He enjoys plein air painting as well as studio work from photographs. His work draw heavily from nature, although he is also proficient in cityscapes, marinas and more. Always growing and developing, some of is most recent works border on the abstract. One of his pieces was recently selected for permanent display in the new Arts Benicia location at the Commanding Officers Quarters. 

Partnering with the Benicia Historical Museum, HQ artists, along with some guest artists, are installing a new exhibition in Stone Hall at the museum starting May 11th. 

There will be a reception Friday May 20th from 5-7 p.m. that is free and open to the public. At all other times, admission to the exhibit is included with Museum entrance fees. Hours are Wednesday – Sunday 1-4 p.m. 

“Frame it Your Way”, an expanded selection of unframed art will be shown at HQ Gallery during the month of May. HQ is located at 333 First St. in the historic Washington House building.
